ATANGAN, ROMMEL A., TORRES, CHRISTINE JOY C. Development of Building Inspector Robot with Gas Leakage Detector for Earthquake and Fire Accident. Undergraduate Design Project. Cavite State University — Cavite College of Arts and Trades Campus, Rosario, Cavite. June 2019. Adviser: Engr. John Michael M. Dharma and Technical Critic: Engr. Judith O. Banogbanog.
The study was conducted from August 2018 to May 2019, to develop Inspector Robot, a raspberry pi-based intelligent robot that can see through dark places and allow to move and pass between obstacles more easily. Specifically, the study aimed to 1.) Design the Building Inspector Robot overall architecture, portability and hardware features and outputs. 2.) Fabrication and assembling of materials to form the physical output of the device. 3.) Design and incorporate a user-friendly graphical interface in a mobile application for the control of the device. 4.) Test and evaluate the technical performance of the device. 5.) Assess the perception of the end-user on the technology.
Building Inspector Robot is made from lighter materials enable to move more easily in obstacles. The developers evaluated the Robot in terms of the performance of the system, the capability of moving and passing through obstacles, functionality of sensing gas, power consumption and reliability of the device.
Based on the results of the evaluation, the functionality and usability succeeded the technical performance of the prototype. This revealed some limitations of the system and arises some recommendations for the improvement of the study.
