| 520 | _aThe Philippines has become one of the fastest-growing digital economies in Southeast Asia due to the emergence of information and communications technologies (ICTs) that have facilitated digital transformation, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. This transformation has led to the development of new business models, innovative products and services, and new ways to conduct business. Utilizing digital technologies effectively can help the country improve its economic performance and promote inclusive and sustainable development. However, the ability of the Philippines to take full advantage of the vast opportunities provided by these technologies is contingent on reducing the digital divide and addressing policy issues. To obtain a better understanding of the digital economy, the Philippine Institute for Development Studies has compiled research on the current ICT environment, including issues related to e-commerce, financial technology, online and platform work, smart cities, digital connectivity, and gender. In this volume, PIDS researchers explore strategies for leveraging digital technologies to achieve inclusive socioeconomic development. The Institute aspires that the analyses in this book will inform discussions and the national strategic direction on seizing opportunities and addressing challenges in the digital sector to enable the Philippines reach its full potential as a frontrunner in the digital economy. | ||
