MICHAEL, ANGELO S., Applied Research IV (Science Education Laboratory High School) Cavite State University-Rosario Campus, 2009 OKRA (Abelmoschus Esculentus) AS AN ADDITIVE IN THE MANUFACTURED OF METAL POLISH". Adviser Mrs. Caridad S. Merced The research study entitled Okra as an Additive in the Manufacture of Metal Polish aimed to determine I the significant difference between the commercial metal polish and okra metal polish in terms of polishing capability and water resistance and 2 the best treatment of the study as to general acceptability. Three treatments were prepared to test its shine and water resistance with commercial metal polish The treatments were as follows. To control (MC Metal Polish), T-45ml. of okra extracts, 56g of finely ground chalk powder with 60ml. of citric acid and 14g of finely ground silica T, 60ml. of okra extract, 42g of finely ground chalk powder with 60ml. of citric acid, 14g of finely ground silica and 1 75ml of okra edract, 28g of finely ground chalk powder with 60ml. of citric acid. 14g of finely ground silica Twenty-five (25) respondents were employed to evaluate the treatments According to the data gathered in the study, it was concluded that T, had the polishing and water resistance that was comparable to commercial metal polish due to the greatest amount of chalk present For further understanding and development of the study, the researchers recommended the use of Aloe vera gumamela, and cactus for the production of metal polish Other studies should also be conducted to find out the shelf life of okra metal polish. Lastly, studies should be conducted to know if the product can also be used to polish wood floor and furniture.
