520 _aNIEGAS, ALFIE JOHN O., PAGUYO, JOHN MICHAEL S., and PASCO, MARK JAYSON D. Development of a Cooling System for a Bench Drill. Undergraduate Project Design. Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology Major in Stationary Marine Technology. Cavite State University Rosario Campus,Rosario, Cavite. April 2017. Adviser: Mr. Lauro B. Pascua. Technical critic: Mr. Danilo G. Santiago. The study was conducted from June 2015 to April 2016 at Cavite State University Rosario Campus in Stationary Marine Technology Building. The main objective of the design project was to develop and evaluate a cooling system for a bench drill. Specifically, the study aimed to: 1) design a cooling system for a bench drill; 2) construct the cooling system for a bench drill from supplies and materials available in the local market; 3) evaluate the effectiveness and safety of the cooling system for a bench drill, and; 4) conduct cost analysis for the cooling system for a bench drill. The cooling system for a bench drill was fabricated with the following components: with soluble oil, submersible plastic pumps and storage tank with 12 liters (3 gallons) capacity. The 16 liters (4gallons) was used for reservoir, stainless steel pipes and fitting with 3/4 and 1/2 diameter were used in connecting the flexible hose. The AC clamp meter was used to measure temperature of the drill bit and the work piece. The duration of the observation lasts up to 6 hours. Using the existing drill bit with a thick metal was made difficult for the drill bit, to forcefully stop spinning because of the hardness and thickness of the metals. The drill bit also loses its sharpness easily because of the characteristics of the metal to be drilled which was the main problem during our hands-on activities.
