520 _aABSTRACT BLANCAFLOR, JOMAN A., TERCENIO, JOHN JEROMHER T., and VASQUEZ, DANIEL B., Development and Evaluation of Portable Hydraulic Tire Bead Breaker. Undergraduate Project Design. Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology. Cavite State University, Rosario Cavite. March 2016.Adviser: Mr. Ariel G. Santos. Technical critic: Richard V. Dela Peña. The study was conducted from July 2015 to March 2016 to develop and evaluate a portable hydraulic tire bead breaker. Specifically, the study aimed to: 1) design and develop a portable hydraulic tire bead breaker; 2) construct the device using locally available materials; 3) evaluate the performance of the device in accordance to its operational limitations; 4) determine the acceptability of the device in terms of the following; a) effectiveness, b) consistency of operation and c) safety features of the device; and 5) conduct cost analysis for the portable hydraulic tire bead breaker. The prototype consist of hydraulic pump that can produce a hydraulic pressure up to 4 ton with the partner of hydraulic cylinder with 24.9 mm in diameter and a reach of 12mm in full extraction. Assembled and welded together using an E6013 and E6011 welding rod to support and withstand the pressure emitted by the hydraulic pump. The raw materials cost PHP 10, 630 and the labor cost was PHP 2,000. The total initial cost of the project was PHP 13,530. Testing and evaluation was conducted in 3 trials with different sizes of tires ranging from 14”, 15” and 17” in rim diameter. The consistency of the process and its speed was measured with the use of a digital stop watch. Data collected were analyzed and interpreted with the use of one way-ANOVA through Microsoft Excel 2015. Using the Portable Hydraulic Tire Bead Breaker evaluation it was found out that 17" diameter took the longest bead breaking time which is 37.2 seconds while 15”diameter tire got the least bead breaking time with a time of 24.9 seconds and 14”diameter tire got the un beading time of 23.13 seconds having the least breaking time. "in diameter was the easy and faster bead breaking time process. With the evaluation conducted with the device being developed it could unbead car tire faster than the conventional/manual process.
