520 _aALBERTO, PRINCESS LOEL, JALAYAHAY, CEDRIC M. GarCoD: Garbage Collector Device. Design Project. Department of Engineering. Cavite State University-Cavite College of Arts and Trades Campus, Rosario, Cavite. June 2018. Adviser: Diane P. Arayata. Technical critic: John Michael A. Dharma. The study was conducted from September 2017 to March 2018 to develop automated garbage eating device with bin overflow indicator via SMS notification. Specifically, the study aimed to: 1) design and construct the hardware and software interface of the automated water-based garbage eating device for effective waste collection with bin overflow indicator via SMS notification; 2) measure/weigh the collected trash to identify if the weight reaches the threshold value — 32 kilograms (kg), for bin overflow indicator; and 3) asses and evaluate the device capability of collecting floating water waste and system capability of detecting whether the trash weight reach the defined threshold value. The researcher used a SOW, 12V solar panel as the main source of power which is connected to 40Ah, 12 volts battery. Solar Panel’s - power generation (W), discharging time (hrs), collected waste (kg), and bin-overflow message delay (s). The result of the statistical analysis of data revealed that the GarCoD: Garbage Collector Device with Bin Overflow Indicator via SMS Notification system’s weighing readings and readings of existing digital weighing scale showed no statistical significant difference; can work up to 8hrs at night assuming that the battery is fully charged. And the devices can automatically stopping and/or starting the motor according to the weighed waste. The device, being an autonomous garbage collector, can, at least, help in reducing or minimizing the waste materials in rivers.
