Cavite State University-Cavite College of Arts and Trades Campus, Rosario, Cavite. June 2019. Adviser: Engr. John Robert G. Briones. Technical Critic: Engr. Kenneth J. Enrico. A study on the development of the SmartAire, a portable mini electric fan, was conducted from August 2018-March 2019 to devise an automatic electric fan that can help reduce the electrical consumption of households and to generate a new technology for remote areas in resolve the negative health impacts of heightened body temperature. Specifically, this study aimed to design and develop the SmartAire and test and evaluate the performance of the device based on the speed settings of the DC motor, and time of operation and sensing capability. The chassis of the device is made of polylactide, a biodegradable thermoplastic material used to resist the heat from the DC motor. The speed of the fan motor will depend on the ambient temperature sensed by the LM35 thermal sensor. This sensor sends a signal to the microcontroller that controls the voltage supplied to the DC motor. The voltage supplied to the motor, the fan speed, and temperatures sensed by the device were observed and the durability in forms of length of time of operation of the fan was assessed. The results of the testing and evaluation proved the functionality of the fan. | ||
