The first three chapters are specifically focused on Philippine literature: the first chapter shows examples of epics and prose narrative such as myths, legends, fables and folktales that existed even before the arrival of Spanish colonizers, and new literary genres introduced by the Spaniards and Americans such as poems and essays. The seond chapter allows our students to be acquainted with the selected masterpieces produced by the Philippines' national artists for literature. The third chapter concentrates on literary works written in the 21st century and showcase contemporary values and beliefs of the millennials and the Generation Z.
