The study was conducted from July 2015 to March 2016 to develop and evaluate a 50 amperes storage battery charger. Specifically, the study aimed to: 1) design a 50 amperes storage battery charger; 2) construct the device using locally available materials; 3) evaluate the performance of the device in terms of the following; a) time and speed of charging, b) accuracy of the device,c) safety features of the prototype; and 5) conduct cost analysis of the 50 amperes storage battery charger.
The 50 Amperes Storage Battery Charger was a device used to charge storage batteries for electro mobiles as well as for the high density storage batteries. It can accommodate three 24 volts batteries at the same time. The 50 amperes storage battery was composed of different electronics materials and other raw materials that were used to build the prototype. It can charge 12 volts and 24 volts battery at the same time. The 50 amperes storage battery can accommodate three batteries at the same while charging. The prototype has an auto cut-off features that is activated when the batteries are full charged.
A timer was used to evaluate the charge duration of the battery while charging, then a volt meter is used to measure the volts emitted in the battery from the charger. The materials cost PHP 6,240 and the labor cost was PHP 1,500. The total initial cost of the project was PHP 8,540.
