Development of engine lathe machine turret type tool holder. Undergraduate Thesis Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology. Cavite State University, Rosario Campus, Cavite. March 2016.Adviser: Mr. Nestor M. Alvarez. Technical critic: Mr. Romulo B. Isorena. The study was conducted from January 2015 to March 2016 to developed and evaluate an engine lathe machine turret type tool holder. Specifically, the study aimed to: 1) design Turret Type Tool Holder; 2) construct an engine lathe machine turret type tool holder using available parts and material;3) evaluate the performance of the device in terms of speed of cutting work piece and in terms of threading, facing, straight turning, center drill and drilling.; and 4) conduct cost analysis for engine lathe machine turret type tool holder. The turret type tool holder was designed to accommodate five cutting tools that were commonly used in the lathe machine. It was made of SAE 4140 to withstand tear and wear and has a radius of 60.00mm and a thickness of 90.00mm. The five (5) cutting tools were mounted on the turret already aligned with the axis of the machine spindle. Each cutting tool was firmly positioned with the use of cup screws. The device was simply rotated counter clockwise to select the desired cutting tool to be used. A turret type for engine lathe could make the machining process and changing of tools easy no longer be a problem to the user. The device contains various cutting tools to be rotated to turn the tool holder to the appropriate cutting tool base to be in used in machining. With the use of turret type tool holder the work become easier and faster. The cutting tool that needed to the operation could be easily change by rotating only the turret type tool holder making the machining process consumed less time and effort. The total cost of the project was PHP. 8,175.00. ER -
