Microcontroller-based Coffee Bean Pulping Machine. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. Cavite State University-Cavite College of Arts and Trade, Rosario Cavite. June 2019. Adviser: Engr. Kenneth J. Enrico. Technical Critic: Engr. Gee Jay C. Bartolome. This study was conducted from December 2018 to May 2019 at Cavite State University-CCAT Campus to design and fabricate an Arduino-based coffee bean pulping machine for the coffee farmers and processors in Cavite. Specifically, it aimed to design and fabricate an Arduino-based pulping machine that will adjust the pressed cover for the different species of coffee including Liberica, Arabica, Robusta, and Excelsa; and test and evaluate the technical performance of the pulping machine in terms of the following capacity (in kg/h); purity; pulping efficiency (%); and mechanically damaged parchment coffee (%). The proponents have developed a machine that adjusts the pressed cover according to the types of coffee bean with use of Arduino UNO microcontroller. The machine that the proponents built increased pulping efficiency and decreased mechanically damaged parchment coffee. The design of the machine was compliant to the minimum standards of the PNS/PAES 252:2011 Coffee Pulper-Specifications. The testing and evaluation of the pulper was also anchored on the PNS/PAES 253:2011 Coffee Pulper-Methods of Test. Based on the results of the testing and evaluation, the pressed cover of the pulper which implements the pulping mechanism can be effectively controlled by the system, thus, maintaining efficiency between 87-90 percent.
