ARCINAS, ANTHONY,V., BALDOMERO, KENT ZEAR,C., BERNARDINO, EUGENE, G., Development of Shaft Alignment Trainer. Undergraduate Project Design. Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology major in Stationary Marine Technology.Cavite State University Rosario Campus, Rosario, Cavite. April 2017. Adviser: Josefino E. Ambayec. Technical critic: Mr. Danilo G. Secrarity,
The study was conducted from June 2015 to June 2016 at Cavite State University Rosario ampus in Stationary Marine Technology Building to develop a Shaft Alignment Trainer. Specifically, the study aimed to: 1) design a shaft alignment trainer; 2) construct a shaft lignment trainer; 3) evaluate the performance of the project in term of accuracy and time consumed in aligning by using reverse alignment method and 4) conduct a cost analysis for the Shaft Alignment Trainer.
Engineering students, technology students, instructors, mechanics and medium scale industries dealing with shaft alignment of pumps and motors were the beneficiary of the developed prototype.
The study revealed that the indicator reading achieved the acceptable standard tolerance in aligning shaft motor and pump. It takes 12 hours to properly align the two shafting. The trainer can be used to show and simulate the basic procedure on how to align two shafting. The learning activities such as checking the soft foot, checking run-out, and checking horizontal clearance by the use of reverse indicator alignment method were the lab exercises that the trainer can be used. The total cost of the project was Php.11,934.00.
