CLARIN, CRISSELLE JHOY D., SEPTIMO, MARY FRAME B., and SOSA, MARK JOSEPH S., Development of Hydraulic Coil Spring Compressor. Undergraduate Project Design. Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology. Cavite State University, Rosario Cavite. March 2017. Adviser: Dr.Ariel G. Santos. Technical critic: Mr. Richard V. Dela Pena.
The study was conducted from August 2016 to April 2017 intended to develop and evaluate a hydraulic coil spring compressor. Specifically, the study aimed to: 1) design and develop a hydraulic coil spring compressor; 2) construct the device using locally available materials;3) evaluate the performance of the device in accordance to it's a) speed of operation b) compressing pressure c) number of pump stroke and 4) conduct cost analysis for the hydraulic coil spring compressor.
The prototype consist with a hydraulic pump, hydraulic cylinder, curve tool steel and mild steel square bar. Model 50040 omega hydraulic repair body used consisted of hydraulic pump that can produce a hydraulic pressure up to 2 ton in combination of hydraulic cylinder with 24.9 mm in diameter with a reach of 120 mm fully extracted. For the frame, a mild square tube with the thickness of 1.5 mm, fused together using an E6013 and E6011 welding rod. The total initial cost of the project was PHP 16,365.00 Testing and evaluation was conducted in three trials with different sizes of spring ranging from 101.6,114.3 and 139.7 in diameter. The consistency of the process and its speed was measured with the use of digital stop watch.
Using the Hydraulic Coil Spring Compressor evaluation it was found out that 139.7 mm consumed the longest compressing time with a mean of 25.73 seconds while 114.3 mm got the second least spring compressing time with a mean of 22.1 seconds and 101.6 mm got an average of 15.3 seconds having the least compressing time
