Summary: ABSTRACT ANDRADE, JOEY T., MORRON, JHONAS D., and VASQUEZ, DAN JASPER O. Development of a Digital Bench Tester of an Alternator and Starter Motor. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology major in Stationary Marine Technology and Automotive Technology. Cavite State University CCAT Campus, Rosario, Cavite.2019. Adviser: Mr. Josefino E. Ambayec. Technical critic: Mr. Jalfred B. Arca. The study was conducted from August 2018 to May 2019 to develop and evaluate a digital bench tester of an alternator and starter motor. Specifically, the project aimed to: 1. design of digital bench tester of an alternator and starter motor; 2. construct a digital bench tester of an alternator and starter motor with locally available supplies and materials; 3. evaluate the performance of the device in terms of voltage and current output reading of light and medium vehicle alternator with and without load, voltage and current output reading of light and medium vehicle starter motor with and without load, rpm reading of the alternator; and 4. conduct a cost-and-return analysis for the Digital Bench Tester of an Alternator and Starter Motor. The digital bench tester of an alternator and starter motor was developed to test the accurateness and to ease in reading of the voltage and current. It is a bench tester consists of a 2-phase motor for the alternator and a 2sm battery for the starter motor wherein the reading of the voltage and current will show in the digital displays. In testing and evaluation, different types of alternator and starter motor were measured and evaluated. The data collected were analyzed to determine the effectiveness of the Digital Bench Tester of an Alternator and Starter Motor. The result of the study indicated that the digital bench tester of an alternator and starter is more efficient to use than acquiring an analog bench tester and it is much more affordable. The digital bench tester was tested to find the consistency of alternator idle speed, measured in revolution per minute (rpm) and the accuracy of output reading in terms of voltage and current reading. It resulted to the findings that the different types of alternator and starter used in the study such as light and medium type of vehicle are suitable and has accurate output reading.

ABSTRACT

ANDRADE, JOEY T., MORRON, JHONAS D., and VASQUEZ, DAN JASPER O.
