The study was conducted from July 2015 to April 2017 to Develop a Semi-Automatic butt joint weld tester specifically, the study aimed to: 1) Design the Automatic switching tungsten sharpener: 2) Construct an Automatic switching tungsten sharpener as its layout specification and principle of operation: 3) Evaluate the Automatic switching tungsten sharpener in terms of; a. speed in sharpening tungsten. b. distance of activation. c. number of outputs per given time; d. compare the performance of the automatic switching tungsten sharpener to the bench grinder in terms of speed in sharpening tungsten. And number of outputs per given time. 4) Conduct cost analysis of the project. 5) Conduct cost analysis.
The Automatic switching Tungsten Sharpener was developed to sharpen the different measure of tungsten without pushing button to On and Off. It can sharp the tungsten with a measure of 1.6 mm diameter, 2.4 mm diameter and 3.2 mm diameter and the device lessen the use of push button of the bench grinder. The device has a sonar sensor used to automatically turn on and off the device. The bench grinder as the main part of prototype
The developed device can sharpen the tungsten with a measure of 1.6 mm diameter, 2.4 mm diameter, and 3.2 mm diameter. The total cost of the device was PHP. 17,882.20.
