Summary: ARCAL, JUNIEL M., NOTA, JOSEPHINE D. AND TACUYAN, JOYCIE EUNICE H. Development of Arduino-based Real-time Water Quality Monitoring System for Aquaponics. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. Cavite State University-Rosario Campus, Rosario, Cavite. May 2017. Adviser: Engr. Gee Jay C. Bartolome. Technical critic: Diane P. Arayata. The study was conducted from January 2016 to April 2017 to develop an Arduino-based real-time water quality monitoring system for aquaponics. The monitoring system was concerned on four water parameters which include water pH level, dissolved oxygen (DO), electrical conductivity (EC), and water temperature. The monitoring system was developed, evaluated and tested in an aquaponics facility. The readings obtained by the monitoring system were compared with the values obtained using portable water quality meters. The paired T-test revealed no statistically significant difference between the sets of values obtained. This result suggests that the monitoring device can acquire precise readings of water quality parameters. The monitoring system can precisely monitor water quality parameters and store information in its database. The website is also efficient in providing the user a remote access to water quality data. The automated and remote monitoring of water temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen level, and electrical conductivity can help increase the productivity of the aquaponics system. The total cost of developing the system was P 46,424.65.
