ABUTIN, JESUS JOHN A., BOBADILLA, JOHN ANDREW A., CAMINGAY, RENILYN J... AND MORES, MANNYLYN L. DEVELOPMENT OF MICROCONTROLLER-BASED AUTOMATIC STAMPER. A Project Design. Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. Cavite State University-Rosario, Rosario, Cavite. April 2014. Adviser: Raiza D. Borreo. Technical critic: Daniel A. Villanueva.
The project was conducted in Cavite from January 2013 to 2014 with the considerations from people concerning study such as I.T. professionals, government employees, and school members including students. The project was to develop a microcontroller-based automatic stamper. Specifically, the study aimed to: 1. plan for the efficiency and importance of the device; 2. analyze for the operation of the device; design the prototype of microcontroller-based automatic stamper; 3. gather the requirements needed for constructing the device; 4. construct the actual and its program; test the prototype to check for errors and to specify the capacity of the device; and 5. evaluate the device through demonstrating with the support of the documents information of automatic stamper.
Planning the system such as gathering information from different sources, analyzing the system’s information including the advantages and disadvantages of the study, designing the outcome and diagrams of the study and system prototyping were done to create the project. The system is composed of components that control and supports the function of the system: a liquid crystal display (LCD) to display the number of papers to be stamp; self-inking stamp with a logo/word that is going to print on the paper; keypad to enter the number of documents; it has a motor that is liable for pushing the stamp through the paper and motors for rollers that moves out the paper after every stamp; the system uses gizDuino X Microcontroller which was programmed using Arduino IDE. The developers did an alpha testing to check for errors. Beta testing was conducted to check the system’s efficiency.
There are a total of 100 participants who observed and evaluated the project consisted of 30 students from the 4th year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, 30 students from the 3rd year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, 15 students from the 4th year Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, 15 students from the 3rd year Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, and 10 students from the 1st year Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering.
The microcontroller-based automatic stamper was tested by stamping standard sizes of paper. The developers explained the significance and function of the prototype to the participants in order to understand the whole system. Results of evaluation showed that the prototype is an effective tool to minimize efforts exerted for stamping.
