It is intended to develop students' sense of appreciation of the practical, intellectual and authentic dimensions of Mathematics and students' skills in applying mathematical tools in daily life. It has lessons that deal with the rudiments of mathematics and their application in real life situations. It makes use of the interdisciplinary approach. <br/>Basic math concepts include nature of mathematics as shown in regular patterns in nature and environment. Being shown that patterns in nature are basically mathematics, it is expected that students see the relevance of mathematics in their lives and develop deeper appreciate for mathematics.<br/>This book also includes problem solving and reasoning to enhance 21st century students' critical and creative thinking skills. By learning basic statistics - measures of central tendency, measures of variability and others - students are capacitated to properly apply statistical method in the management, analysis and interpretation of data. This can help enhance students' research skills.<br/><br/>This book also offers students the avenue to enrich their artistic prowess to learn geometric designs and transformation concepts to be used in creating a design, elaborating arts and promoting one's culture. It also includes codes and linear programming to capture text data errors and error detection and correction to determine the right strategy to correct them.<br/>Mathematics on finance, apportionment and voting, and logic are included in order to apply the concept of mathematics in other fields like politics, economics and in other social science. This remind students once more that mathematics does not only take place within the four walls in the classroom but more so in real life situations.<br/>The theories on graphs and number system are made part of the highlights of this material to elucidate on the foundation of mathematics through Euler's formula, modulo and group concept. All these contribute to make students grasp and internalize that mathematics is vital in their lifelong learner professional.<br/> |
