<a href="Arenas, Alliana F., Delfin, Michelle C., Estores, Nicee Alyzza H., Pagkaliwangan, Jane M., Screening of Seven Selected Grasses Against Staphylococcus Aureus. Research study. Science Education Laboratory School. Cavite State University. Adviser: Mr. Art Palacios.<br/><br/> Many considered grasses as pest; it it usually food for farm animals. Some grasses are used for preparing foods and used as herbal medicine. But until now, there is no specific study ever conducted about grasses. The researchers chose to use seven kinds of grasses such as Carabao grass (Paspalum conjugatum Bergius), Bermuda grass, (Cynodon dactylon L. Pers. Bogdan), Talahib grass (Bambuseae), Wheat grass (Elytrigia elongate) and Cogon grass (Imperata cylindrical). The researchers conducted Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) to know if there is a significant difference and evaluate the antibacterial property of selected grasses.<br/><br/> The data collected were analyzed and interpreted using the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) with seven treatments, three trials and three replication such as T0- Ampicilin, T1- Carabao Grass extract, T2- Bermuda Grass extract, T3- Lemon Grass extract, T4-Bamboo Grass extract, T5 Talahib Grass extract, T6- Wheat Grass extract and T7-Cogon Grass extract. The researchers prepared the culture media which is the Staphylococcus aereus and get the extracts of the grasses. All the materials used in the experiment were prepared the culture media which is the Staphylococcus aureus and get the extracts of the grasses. All the materials used in the experiment were prepared for the sterilization process. Then the transferring of media and inoculation of the bacteria. The grass extracts were tested and lastly the reading of the results and the decontomination procedure. After 24 hours, there are some grasses like Bermuda; Talahib and Bamboo grass had shown antibacterial property. However, after 48 hours the zone of inhibition of all grasses extracts turn zero. It was recommend to try different kinds of plants and to extract them better use the juicier than the blender and choose plants that have medical background.
