Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology major in Electronics. Cavite State University, Rosario, Cavite. May 2017. Adviser: Mr. Nemrod M. Zoleta. Technical critic: Mrs. Janice D. Marquez<br/><br/>The study was conducted from March 2016 to May 2017 at Cavite State University Rosario Campus in TVEP Building to develop and evaluate the rechargeable 12V soldering iron with light, magnifier and lead holder. Specifically, the study aimed to. 1) design the rechargeable 12Vsoldering iron with light, magnifier and lead holder.2) Construct 12V soldering iron with light, magnifier and lead holder from supply and materials available from local market. 3) evaluate the prototype in terms of speed, safety, operating time and efficiency. 4) conduct cost analysis for the rechargeable 12V soldering iron with light magnifier and lead holder.<br/><br/>The prototype was conducted with three (3) major parts namely: power supply, soldering iron and soldering iron accessories. The power supply requires an input of 220V -240V AC and has an output of a 12V DC. It also includes the charge indicator, soldering iron stand, helping third hand and a soldering tip cleaner; The soldering iron is used for melting solder and applying it to metals that are to be joined, it uses a 12V heating element and it also has a 12V car adapter that is use to connect the soldering iron to the power supply; Soldering iron accessories are used to give users a more ease and precise use when soldering. A LED lights are attached to a soldering iron to give brightness in the area of work and in the components that needs to be soldered, also a removable lead holder is used to hold the solder and serve as a guide in pointing the solder into the soldering tip. <br/><br/>The developed prototype size was 320 x 145 x 190 cm made by sheet metal as body of the prototype. It also uses 6A transformer with output voltage of 12V, 0v and 12V.18Ah battery was used as power storage of the prototype. The prototype also has PCB and wire holder that can holds wire sizes ranging from 24-8 AWG wire size. <br/><br/>The safety of the prototype was checked by measuring the temperature of the battery which shows that the battery is in good and normal working condition because there is only a 1°C increase in its initial temperature after 2 hours of charging. The battery only reaches 32℃ which was a very good indication that there will be no overheating when charging. The transformer was also in good working condition. There is gradual increase in initial temperature of the transformer because after 2 hours of charging the transformer reaches 39°℃ that indicates it was working normally.
