| Thesis Abstract | <a href="KELVIN ROSSCEL M. AGELLON and VRENIE A. CABUNIAT. Computer-based Indoor Air Quality Monitoring Device Using Arduino. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. Cavite State University Cavite College of Arts and Trade, Rosario Cavite. June 2019. Adviser: Ms. Judith O. Banogbanog. Technical Critic: Mr. Allen Paul K. Aclan.<br/><br/>This study was conducted from December 2018 to May 2019 at Cavite State University Cavite College of Arts and Trade, Rosario, Cavite. The study aimed to develop a portable, cheap yet high quality indoor air quality monitoring device for the technology shops of Cavite State University-CCAT Campus to help in assessing air quality index. Specifically, it aimed to: 1) assess the working conditions of the technology shops of CvSU-CCAT Campus by identifying health hazards associated with indoor air quality; 2) design and create a cheap and portable indoor air quality device that focuses on evaluating the amount of particulate matter, sulfur dioxide, ozone, carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide; 3) implement the device in the technology shop and collect data on air quality parameters for the assessment of indoor air quality; and 4) validate the collected data from the device. The proponents have developed a device that is composed of six sensors which were integrated with use of Arduino UNO REV3 microcontroller. The proponents also developed a system using Visual Studio C# and MySQL for the analysis, generation and exporting of the collected data from the device. The device that the proponents built was able to detect more pollutants compared to some existing devices from other countries. Moreover, the selection of the air pollutants to be detected was based from the air quality standard parameter of the Philippines’ Part II, Rule VII, Section 4 of RA 8749 IRR. Since the industrial technology students and professors conduct different technical activities that degrade indoor air quality, this study helped them by assuring the safety of the shop while working. The evaluation proved that the device is worth for deploying. It fully meets the expectations of the respondents. Moreover, the study is a useful reference for students and professors of industrial technology and future researchers. <br/><br/><br/>Keywords: Indoor air quality; Air sensors; Monitoring device.
